Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

One of the most important tasks before Pellissippi State Community College in the coming two years is its effort to earn reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

We have been preparing for this process for several years by providing professional development for key faculty and staff and by participating in on-site and off-site review teams.  We officially began the process in August with the kick-off speech by Dr. Belle Wheelan, and meetings and discussions have already begun. 

The process has changed significantly since the last self-study and visit by a SACS team. Not only will we evaluate how well we comply with the standards set by the Commission on Colleges, but we will also, as a college, select a special focus on student learning outcomes to incorporate into a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). I believe that the reaffirmation process is an excellent one and that we will have an opportunity to show our peers how well we perform in carrying out our mission in our community. 

I look forward to working with all campuses and with all of our faculty and staff in this process to affirm not only our accreditation but also our success as one of the finest colleges in the nation.
